NPFL Super 4 Round Up: Wolves on top after Enyimba draw

Wolves @Supersportpi

Match Day 1 of the 2016 Glo Premier League Super 4 saw last season's runners-up, Warri Wolves FC take pole position on the table with three points following a 1-0 win over Akwa United as Enyimba International let go a solitary goal lead to draw 1-1 with Nasarawa United.
Petite striker, Kelvin Itoya made the difference for Wolves in the 44th minute scoring off a goalmouth scramble as the back line of the Federation Cup winners, Akwa United failed to clear well.
Several efforts by the Federation Cup winners to score were undid by their blunt attack, as they missed glaring chances in both halves. Despite their domination of the game, the Akwa Ibom side were unable to equalize as Warri Wolves resolutely defended their goal till the end of the game to lead the Super 4 log.

In the second and more excitingly balanced game of the day, former Warri Wolves forward, Joseph Osadiaye struck a lovely straight shot to the roof of the net to give Enyimba a first half lead over his former club. The league champions held on to the lead going into the interval but their laid back play in the second half gave the Solid Miners from Lafia the opportunity to mount the offensive.
The persistent pressure forced Enyimba to concede several free kicks and corner kicks and eventually being forced to concede the equalizer off a goalmouth melee in the 89th minute. Frantic changes, include one in added time failed to lift the Peoples Elephant's game as they shared points with Nasarawa United.
Match Day 2 fixtures will be between Akwa United and Enyimba International in a late Friday fixture kicking off at 5pm while Nasarawa United and Warri Wolves meet in the second game at 7pm.
