The concert was announced prior to the icon's death on Sunday. Cyndi Lauper, Jakob Dylan, Perry Farrell and The Roots will perform, according to the music hall's website.
The show will take place on March 31 at 8 p.m. The concert is a "benefit
for a variety of music education programs serving underprivileged
youth," according to the Carnegie Hall site. It will feature 20 artists
who will all perform songs by Bowie.
"The unexpected death of David Bowie has turned this tribute, which we
have worked on for the past 7 months, into a memorial concert," musicof.org
said. "While the series has featured surprise appearances and
performances of the honorees several times in the past, this year's
concert will certainly be remembered as a poignant celebration of his
music by his friends, peers, and fans."
Bowie died at the age of 69 on Sunday after battling cancer for more than a year, his representative confirmed to ABC News.
"David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a
courageous 18 month battle with cancer," the Jan. 10 statement said.
