Farah second best in first race of 2016

Britain's double Olympic champion Mo Farah lost out to American Garrett Heath at the Great Edinburgh International cross-country race on Saturday as he started 2016 with a runners-up finish.
The 32-year-old, who will defend his 5 000 and 10 000 metres titles at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro later this year, finished two seconds behind Heath, who completed the eight-kilometre course in 25 minutes and 29 seconds.
On a bitterly cold afternoon in the Scottish capital, Farah was in contention for victory until the closing stages, but Heath made light of muddy conditions to outpace him in a sprint finish.
"You don't want to lose the race, but it's better to lose now than later in the year," Farah told the BBC.
Heath, who has now won the race three times, said: "I kept waiting for Mo to kick past me in the home stretch, because I could hear people shouting."
Farah now heads to Ethiopia for a training camp before returning to Scotland for the Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix on February 20.
The women's 6km race was won by 24-year-old Briton Kate Avery.
